Finding the right fit is the first step - and one of the most difficult and most important. Sending that initial email or calling for the first time can be overwhelming.
Do what is most comfortable for you - send an email, give me a call, sign up online or fill out a form on the ‘contact’ page. Let me know what the presenting issues are and what kind of support you are looking for.

You scheduled a session!
Next step is the intake/assessment process. In our first session together, I will go over confidentiality, the legal and ethical limits of confidentiality, and consent.
During this time I will be asking A LOT of questions and getting to know you. I will ask about your background, history, relationships, previous experiences with counselling, presenting issues and goals- this helps me to get a clear picture of how I can help. From there, I can provide an overview of service and a general plan of how we can move forward together.
Intake/assessment process can take up to a few sessions depending on each individual client. The more I learn about you, the more information we have to move forward with a treatment plan that is tailored to your individual needs.

Once intake is completed, next is treatment. Here is where we deep dive into the presenting issues utilizing a variety of therapeutic approaches, techniques and interventions.
Throughout treatment we will discuss progress and frequency of sessions.

The intention of therapy is essentially to work myself out of job. The goal is you feel better and take what you learn in session out into the world on your own.
My job is to equip you with the skills you need to tackle your problems independently. You may find that as we get closer to reaching this goal, you require fewer sessions at a reduced frequency. Once your goals have been met, you will be ready for discharge! But don’t worry- you are always welcome to return for a tune up as-needed once our time together comes to an end.
As part of our discharge planning, I can also help discuss referrals to other services or community programs if needed.

Location Information:
Located at 333 Vickers St S - beside/attached to Ridgeway Clinic. Facing a one-way street, down the road from Shoppers Drug Mart. There is free 2 hour parking available on all surrounding streets and public transportation stops near by.
Once inside, please head to the waiting room (turn right) and help yourself to a beverage while waiting. I will be there shortly to get you.
